Mirror's Edge: The Movie?

NSX | July 23, 2008 | News | PC Playstation 3
While the game Mirror's Edge hasn't even been released yet, there are already talks of a possible Mirror's Edge movie to hit the silver screen. The movie might not be directly off of the game but perhaps it would be closely related. The First-person camera view shown in this game would be an interesting new take on Hollywood films.
Earlier today, Electronic Arts announced that they signed a deal with United Talent Agency (UTA) to “develop a comprehensive strategy for moving its intellectual property into the realm of large-budget motion pictures and television series.”

No confirmation of a movie or television show based off of Mirror’s Edge has been announced, but many gamers (including most of the staff here) have been eagerly anticipating Mirror’s Edge since it was announced earlier this year.

    Damnit Akira.

I would love to see a film based on this game, even though just about all movie adaptations of games are mediocre (and vice-versa), the first-person camera view would look pretty sweet. Reminds me of the last 15 minutes of the Doom film.

I really don't think a FPS movie will happen. I hope it doesn't. It would get annoying, to me, atleast.

The last bit on the Doom Movie was cool, but a whole movie? I think that would get boring, and it'd probably be hard to film.

Good point, Drogo. Now that I think about it, some fighting scenes would be rather difficult to catch on, and it would be a pain to watch 90 minutes in FP. But I like for them to try something different, one of the reasons why I thought Cloverfield was an alright film was because of it's camera style.

Well, the game seems to be a lot of acrobatics and jumping from building to building. Maybe those parts could be in first person, while the storyline-heavy parts and fightscenes could pull away from the characters view.

And, if the movie were animated, then any difficulties of the First-Person-Perspective shots would be eliminated.

        But I'd, personally, prefer a live-action film.

Tbh, I would have loved the entire Doomn movie to be in first-person view, but maybe that's just me.

I'm going to go out on a limb and make that FPS annoying view unanimous.

Yeah, I got mentally tired just watching Cloverfield. I would never be able to sit through a movie entirely in first person perspective.
