Metal Gear Online "Gene" Expansion ... is a disaster!

Gothic Girl | July 18, 2008 | News | Playstation 3
Bad news for Metal Gear Solid fans looking forward to the new "gene" expansion of MGO. It seems Konami are having quite a few difficulties with it ...
Before Kojima Productions and Konami get Hideo Kojima that editor he so desperately needs, perhaps the company should hire someone who knows how to launch an online multiplayer game. The Metal Gear Online "Gene Expansion" was released yesterday and promptly melted Konami's servers, resulting in the closure of the game's MGO Shop and Reward Shop and difficulty logging in to the service. Some MGO players have reported paying for the new expansion and getting nothing in return.

Konami's solution to some of these issues was to restrict random IP ranges from accessing the shops, in an effort to lighten the load.

The company has also cancelled all Metal Gear Online "Survival" battles planned for this weekend, promising to have a new hamster wheel installed to power the servers as soon as is technically possible.

Man Konami really to lift their game in the online department, they always underestimate the amount of people playing MGO. It happened at the launch of the Beta

I've been saying this for a while now. I'm still wondering why Konami insists to limit EVERYTHING into their own personal website and not on the PSN.

Probably costs i am sure Sony implements a small fee for putting the content up, this content will be in relation to the profits the company will get from the content, doing it all themselves in theory should cost them less.

Them being Japanese, I don't believe they placed much emphasis on Metal Gear Online, IMO. Not to mention, it's like these guys are amateurs, instead of being able to change your character's appearance you have to BUY another character to customize.

The best you can do to "change" an existing character's appearances is to either put on or take off any kind of vest, belt pouches, etc. Though you can only choose the accessory you put on the character at the beginning.
