Looking ahead from E3: What does this year's show tell us about the future fortunes of Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo?

jam_sponge | July 18, 2008 | News | Playstation 3 Wii E3 2008
Although this year's been a fairly dull E3 all things considered, Gaming Verdict's Editor Matt Lees has been taking the time out to read between the lines in terms of how well the three big hitters are likely to fare over the next year.
Old friendships only hold so much salt in business, and we can’t expect to see many more PS3 exclusives without Sony putting down seem serious cash. With the holy grail of Final Fantasy now gone, Sony need to start getting some must-have exclusives on their release radar fast or fans may start to defect.

Somehow Nintendo made themselves seem more retroactively hardcore and less hardcore right now. Having an E3 where Mario Kart Wii, SMG and SSBB were discussed seems huge compared to this year's casualfest.

Animal Crossing is apparently their hardcore solution; a game with no goals. They didn't announce any new channels or changes to the interface or anything about Mii integration into more facets of the Wii or really ANYTHING anyone wanted to hear. A complete failure in progression.

I wait for megaton October press conference.

Nintendo saw E3 as the best chance to reach a mainstream audience and press, and rightfully so.

      E3 is dead.

Yup, Nintendo's annual conference in October has turned into the "hardcore" conference now. I wonder what will be shown at Leipzig in August?

Lol. I do agree with twilightprince, the 2006 E3 was the last good one. But now, it barely gets any views. E3 is dead forever. or might have hope.....

I bet the next E3 will be a good show, more inofrmation about Pikmin 3, and the Mario and Zelda games Miyamoto hinted at.
