Microsoft E3 Impressions

paulhunter | July 14, 2008 | News | XBOX 360 E3 2008
NextGen Player writer Andrew Green gives his impressions on the Microsoft E3 press conference, including Gears of War 2, the new Xbox Dashboard, Xbox Live Arcade games, and more.
1. Gears of War 2 looked great, as you would expect. Lots of fun new ways to dispatch the Locusts, with all of the typical firing from cover, roadie running and beefy weapons that makes Gears so great being present in the trailer. I say trailer and not "gameplay session with Cliffy B" because their demo appeared to freeze and restart about 15 seconds into it. Whoops!

I'm pretty sure the general consensus was that Microsoft raped the shit out of Sony with the FFXIII news. A lot of PS3 owners are up in arms with that piece of news.

Other than the FF game, there wasn't really anything new. That sorta sucks

Well lately the three big company press conferences are focusing on the now. How they're going to win this year.

I'd guess that some new things show up in booths around the show. Like the EA/UBI booth or whatever.

This presentation was a hella lot better than last year's. M$ really spent an hour on charts, sales figures, estimates, etc., last year. Then of course, Moore doing vocals for Rock Band. -_- But this...this was a great start. New interface, kick-ass demos, what more could we ask for?

A new feature on the Dashboard that will have sex with you, because when all this stuff comes out, nobody with a 360 is going to get laid.

So, Microsoft pretty much wins E3 this year, huh? Glad I'm getting a 360 soon, because if Fatal Frame doesn't come out soon, I'm tossing my Wii OUT TEH WINDOW. That would be more entertaining than playing the console. :/

So much good news I can hardly contain myself. I was literally twitching with excitement with the FF news when I logged on this morning.

Fallout 3 looked *bleep*ing amazing, IMO. Like a futuristic-post-apocalyptic-Oblivion-esque game with guns and ten times the gore. I can't wait.

    I don't think Fallout 3 is a 360 exclusive, though...

It's not, but the DLC will be. Microsoft has really found an amazing way to separate the 360 games with PS3 games when they happen to be on both consoles.

      At least with big titles.
