XSEED Gives More Little King's Story Details: Featuring the Kingdom of Drunkards

Akira_EX | July 08, 2008 | News | Wii E3 2008
With E3 rolling around in a week, IGN's Matt Casamassina received more info from publisher XSEED Games about the upcoming Little King's Story, that will also make an appearance at the 2008 E3 Media & Business Summit.

As you can imagine, the kingdom that you will be building up while controlling the young Corobo Bred isn't the only one in the world of Little King's Story. There are seven other kingdoms in play, all with their own respective king that aims to strike you down before you become too powerful. Each kingdom will also have their own princess that will be yours when you conquer the kingdom.

One such kingdom is the Kingdom of the Drunkards, led by the King Duvroc (tentative name), who wishes for everyone in the world to be happy. His daughter, Princess Bouquet, a lover of science and analyzation, happens to be trapped inside a pot. She'll be released once Duvroc goes down.

To conquer other kingdoms, you need to be able to manage your own. Every one of your citizens will have their own identity, their own personality, and their own lifestyle. Lifespans are also preset. Players controlling Corobo will need to manage their kingdoms carefully, to allow the kingdom to grow and prosper.

You are able to assign jobs to adults, each of which have their own strengths and weaknesses, in order to proceed and build. Some of the jobs available are:
  • Grunt Soldier - basic melee combat
  • Regular Carpenter - building and road construction
  • Hardworking Peasant - cultivation
  • Animal Hunter - long range support

Little King's Story is set to release Winter 2008 in the US. Check out the official site here You can see the rest of the screenshots here.
  • We played and liked the DS adventure game Hotel Dusk despite some of its pacing shortcomings, but we're really looking forward to developer Cing's next project, Little King's Story. The Wii-exclusive title, which sports a beautiful storybook visual style, thrusts players into the role of a child king named Korobo who must order his subjects around, presumably to keep the city functioning. The experience has been described to IGN as one part RPG and another part life simulator. To learn more about the concept, American publisher Xseed provides us with a little information about the gameplay process, as well as some of the characters and jobs that help fill the experience.
