The hotly anticipated Firmware 2.40 is almost upon us. A video was posted on the Official Playstation Blog showing some of it's main features including In-Game Music, the ability to switch between games without exiting a game first, Changing Accessories Settings, Reading and Sending messages and even the new addition of a clock.

Needless to say this is big news. The Blogs activity skyrocketed the moment the video was posted. Within 1 hour the blog received 300 replies.

As always the release date is still 'Soon'.

The next video to be released within the next 2 days will show how the Trophies work.
Hi everyone! We know you’re all patiently waiting for the next PS3 firmware update, v2.40, which includes XMB access in-game and Trophy support. The good news is that it’s coming soon, and you can now see how accessing the XMB from in-game will work in this video demo.

Shortly, we’ll be posting another video here on the PlayStation.Blog that shows the Trophy feature in action for the first time. At that time we’ll provide even more details on how firmware v2.40 will enhance your PLAYSTATION 3 experience.

SWEET!!! The best thing about the vid was where he said "It's coming out very soon".
