Mega Man 9 CONFIRMED for WiiWare

Akira_EX | June 26, 2008 | News | Wii
After being already rated by the OFLC, the fans awaited for the impending possibility of Mega Man 9, for which most assumed would be available for a downloadable service. An early leak of the next Nintendo Power issue reveals just that. That's right, folks. Mega Man 9 is headed to WiiWare.

Mega Man 9 will sport old school 8-bit NES-like graphics, with the control method presumably being the Wiimote on it's side. As noted in the interview, the father of the Mega Man series, Keiji Inafune, seeks Mega Man 9 to be a game that would surpass the most popular game of the series, Mega Man 2.

The list of the Robot Masters are in the quote. As mentioned, the team working on Mega Man 9 will be Inti Creates, who worked on the Mega Man Zero series for the GBA and the Mega Man ZX series for the DS.

Since it is a Nintendo Power scan, whether this will come to PSN/XBLA is unknown. Higher resolution scans should see the light of day tomorrow or this weekend.

Check the forums for any further updates.
First of all, I would like to say, before anything else, when the Mega Man Network says they will come through for you, we mean it. Also, that dreams do come true!

These are actual scans from the next edition of Nintendo Power. Mega Man 9 has been confirmed for release on Nintendo's game download service, "WiiWare"

The text is a bit hard to make out, so why don't I list the new Robot Masters for you?

Magma Man
Galaxy Man
Jewel Man
Concrete Man
Hornet Man
Plug Man
Tornado Man
Splash WOMAN (Not actually sure about that)

Inti Creates, a group of former Capcom staffers that worked on the first three Mega Man X games, the team behind the Mega Man ZERO and Mega Man ZX series, is slated to work on this game.

The Mega Man Network is the first to bring you this fresh and exciting news on the internet!

Credit goes to Erico for the scans! We will provide you with larger scans when available!

EDIT: In order to avoid trouble, the links to the larger versions of the scans will stay unlinked until further notice. Most likely early tomorrow. Thanks for understanding.

I cannot wait to get this game. Megaman games were some of the few NES games I was looking for on VC, but a totally new game is even sweeter.

I'm guessing you haven't spent much time with the classic Mega Man titles ? The bosses always had very cheesy names. In true Mega Man fashion, it looks like this will too. Just don't take the names too seriously, and they can be really amusing. I still get a laugh out of the old boss names.

I suppose, but thats how they name their charecters in the world of Megaman.

Every boss, every robot has "man" at the end of their name. The series (TV show) had "man" on all of them as well. (except the girl characters.)

Lol, thank you, now if only they would announce X9, while X7 was a pile of dog shit, X8 was a really good game, and I am hoping that they could emulate that same style into the PS3/ 360.

No, Zan made it look like it did and then sent it to a news site. They have incredible graphic skills.

They've done this before with multiple games.

Trust me, I want MM9 as much as the next guy, but I knew someone was pulling a fast one.

If only I had a Wii, I'd be all over this.
One of the greater games, especially with MegaMan.
