Speculation of a Playstation Phone!?

Perhaps in response to the iPhone, perhaps to get into a new developing market, or just because it seems like a good idea - Sony has said that it is working with its partner/child/merged company, Sony Ericsson to create a cell phone that would have many of the elements of the PSP in it as well.

I'm still waiting on Google's phone, but this is worth keeping tabs on. It could be launched as soon as Christmas next year (2009).

According to Marketing Week, Sony is said to be considering launching a PlayStation-branded phone that would incorporate elements of PSP functionality, possibly as soon as Christmas 2009.

The site claims that Sony would likely develop the new phone itself rather than in collaboration with Swedish mobile company Ericsson, which currently manufactures a number of phone handsets that incorporate Sony’s Walkman and Cyber-Shot brands.

One industry source told MW that the relationship between Sony and Ericsson had become “frosty”, while another suggested that Sony had already made up its mind that it would never allow the Swedish firm to use its PlayStation branding.

In November 2007 Sony shot down rumors that a PlayStation phone was in development after SCE’s co-chief operating officer, Jim Ryan, was “misquoted” as saying that convergence between Sony's PlayStation and Ericsson arms to create a console orientated phone was "definitely plausible".

This story has been around forever i heard this rumor about a month after the psp was realeased that the following year a psphone would be out it still is not here last year there were alot of rumors and even this year people have found psphone patents from sony i just really dont see this happening though does no one remember the n-gage.

  I'm pretty sure this is a new phone, not a phone attachment for the PSP (I don't think that is going to happen)....It just incorporates 'some PSP functionality'....

  TBH, would you REALLY want a PSP phone? Unless it was the sort you could use without having to hold it up to your ear.
  
  You'd look like a total prat holding a PSP (with the screen facing out no less) up to your ear >_> Look at the guy in the picture, his eyes have something of a 'dead' look to them (even he can tell he looks like a fool), though perhaps I'm wrong >_>
  
  If the PSP DOES get a phone attachment, if it was cheap enough (phone attachment and service), I might go for it, since I already have a PSP anyway, and don't plan on using a phone much anyhow....

I personally don't prefer devices that have a number of things on them. It seems that one device by itself is more efficient than it would be if it was combined with a hundred other things.
