EA Banning Member's Accounts For "Rude" Spore Creations ...

Gothic Girl | June 18, 2008 | News | Wii DS
Were you thinking about making your own 'naughty' Spore creature? Well EA isn't too happy with the large amount of pornographic creatures being made, and are starting to ban member's accounts for "violating the Electronic Arts Inc Terms of Service".
How far is too far in the Spore Creature Creator? PC Gamer's Kristen Salvatore found out the hard way this morning when she got a time-out in her email from EA.

Less than a day after responding to Tim Edward’s “member” contribution to the Spore Creature Creator community with “Boobalicious”—a somewhat more gynocentric take on the same theme—she received the following cordial but unambiguous email:

quote
Hello [Perv],
Your Electronic Arts account has been flagged for violating the Electronic Arts Inc Terms of Service. We believe that the violation or behavior is serious enough to bring to your attention as it may impact your future access to the service.

Violation:
<Violation: Inappropriate Content –Creature <violation type:Nudity> < Asset Name:Boobalicious>

Understanding the EA Terms of Service is extremely important, should you have any general questions or concerns please review the Terms of Service. Should you then need additional assistance, or wish to appeal a violation, you can contact us.

Sincerely,
Customer Support
Electronic Arts, Inc.
EA.com Customer Relations

Note that EA did not actually call Kristen Salvatore a “perv” — I added that tiny embellishment only because we all know that they were thinking it.

Oh...so much for the little strange creatures, and no special goal game.

But it would be fun to rent it and laugh a little

Aww thats not fair. If you paid for it you should be able to do what you want on it.

Although they can ban on the free one though.

Well they can do whatever they want, as long as it is not illegal or messes up other people over on-line games.

It isn't about what people want to do privately. No, these things get shared, and can be chosen randomly from a list of creations, and displayed on anybody's copy of the game, providing they have 'global' type settings in effect (something like that, there is a setting where nothing gets policed)....

Kids, and people that don't want to see that, might, by accident.

Yeah, nobody reads to ToS >_> This sort of stuff, you should EXPECT some sort of repercussion, for doing it.....

Yeah that was teh point I was trying to make if people did their 'stuff' privately we would have no problem. But they are sharing their creations on a global scale with many ages.
