Both the Wii and DS have had great success and Nintendo is just rollin' in the dough right now. Everything is going their way, but what are they going to next? Brian Langlois tells us that Nintendo's next console needs an HD output, more internal storage, as well as other things.
With the phenomenal success of both the DS and Wii, Nintendo finds itself in a pretty good position right now. Their radical take on game hardware design has paid off for them, and the company is raking in money hand over fist and expanding the audience for their products. Everything seems great, but what's next? It is a reasonable assumption that Nintendo has already started working on their next-generation game console. What it will include is anybody's guess, but there are a few things that Nintendo needs to keep in mind. The best scenario for Nintendo to continue their success will depend not only on the decisions they make but also on the direction of the industry as a whole.
With their "Blue Ocean" business strategy, Nintendo was certainly successful in disrupting the industry, as was their goal. Not everyone likes the impact they have had this generation, but sales numbers prove that there is a large market of people who are willing to support them. Wii has become a household name, like Nintendo in those glory days of the 1980s. The company is back on top. Of course, by choosing to be so radically different form the competition, and they are the competition despite what some claim, they put themselves in a precarious spot. By being so different, developers cannot simply port a new title between Nintendo's platform and those of Sony and Microsoft cleanly; rather, Nintendo has forced them to decide if they will produce a game for the Wii or for its two competitors. So long as developers have to make a conscious choice between the Wii and the other platforms, it will remain critical that Nintendo's market share be convincingly high, perhaps higher than the other two combined. The momentum is with them now, but it may not last as Wii ages. Nintendo needs to take steps to ensure that their boom doesn't go bust too quickly.

Rehash their games.

they should go back to making 8-bit consoles.
nevermind. they would do something like that.
Experts now: "Nintendo is rocking faces because they aren't follow the trends!"
Conclusion: Experts don't know jack.
2: Create a console that doesn't sacrifice fun for innovation, because half of the wii controls are bad.
3: Create a console that can stand up to the others in graphics, if the gameplay sucks at least the games would be nice to look at.
4: Stop gimmicks for making money! Brain age, Wii Fit, and all those other games targeted for "casual players" I'm pretty sure were to get a quick $
LMAO Slumpy.
The Wii controls aren't bad the idiots who make the game can't implement them half decently, there's a difference.
Graphics do *bleep* all if the gameplay sucks, I have yet to see a game which has been successful on it's graphics alone. However I have seen games that have been successful based on gameplay alone.
If Nintendo want to cater to more than simply the so called 'hardcore' crowd there's nothing wrong with that. More people need to read the article that was posted here about the 'Causal gamer fallacy'.
2) Then don't play the terrible 3rd party games that get crap reviews. The wiimote controls ARE the fun part a large part of the time. On many games you can just switch to an old GameCube controller if you wish. There's atleast a choice on the Wii.
3) Graphics are a comparison. If you released the Wii 5 years ago then suddenly *BAM* "The Wii has awesome graphics!". Nintendo picked the graphical pricepoint that allowed them to make a cost effective system. My computer has better graphics than anything a console could dish out. The fight for graphics is foolish. MS and Sony are fighting to released a non-upgradeable PC that loses them money. I respect a company that DOESN'T take part in that.
4) Sony and MS should try that making money thing. I hear tell that it's what businesses do and what the really good ones do best.
You could be Mario, stepping on Goombas and smashing your head on bricks. =P
