Take-Two ignores subpoena from feds, court wants answers

Avalith | June 11, 2008 | News | Company
EA just won't give up on Take-Two. Here's a quick sample of a typical day between the two:

EA: We want you.
T2: Show us the money.
EA: *places exorbitant amount of money on the table*
T2: That's not good enough! We want a Snickers bar as well!
EA: Grr... Foiled again!

This time, however; EA didn't go back to Take-Two, but instead got the Federal Trade Commission involved. The FTC decided to take a look and politely sent Take-Two a subpoena and CID (civil investigation demand). However, they refused to comply. Why? Because "the Company believes the FTC’s subpoena and CID are unnecessarily broad and would entail unacceptable additional expense to the Company."
A U.S. District Court is asking Take-Two why they are refusing to comply with a subpoena and civil investigation demand from the Federal Trade Commission, the company reported today.

Electronic Arts wants to buy Take-Two, we all know that. And Take-Two is playing hard to get, slightly souring EA's advances. In fact, we've heard the only reason that Electronic Arts is still pushing deals at Take-Two left and right is because they want to get their Federal Trade Commission approval for the deal.

Actually they can, it would be a hostile takeover, and since T2 is a publicly traded company, it wouldn't be hard for a corporation like EA to buy out the majority of shares.

Still is a bad idea though. If anyone should buy T2 it would be Rockstar.

But its not fair, Why must EA try to be the only VG company out there to look all big? If they try this hard to get T2, imagine what it'll be like if Ubisoft goes (not saying they are just an exsample), Guess who's going to be at there door knocking and asking for a bid...
