How To Build An Epic RPG

Krunal | June 02, 2008 | News | Misc
How do you build an Epic RPG? That is a question faced by many developers, and is one that comes up quite often. The answer is simply - "One quest at a time". You say the word 'RPG' and the first thing that comes into minds of many is 'Epic'. Epic for the size of the RPG's that we all love, and to see what I mean, RPG's such as World of Warcraft are intensely huge, and in fact took over 6 years to make. Likewise The Elder Scrolls series are also considered some of the most Epic RPG's around with a massive world and hours and hours of Gameplay.

So read the article in full to learn exactly what it is about 'Epic RPGs' that we like and what makes them 'Epic'.
I think that when people think of RPGs, one word comes to mind: EPIC. At least it seems that way because every print ad for an RPG has the word EPIC splattered on it. We seem to love big things. Especially if they come in pairs. And sit comfortably on a chest. Big is a selling point.

How about just naming the game, Epic? Can't get more 'epic' than that. But...big selling point? Tell that to the Age of Conan guys.
