Ninja Gaiden 2 Running At Sub-HD (585p)

Krunal | June 01, 2008 | News | XBOX 360
Members of the beyond3d forum seem to have a knack for finding out what resolution screenshots are running at, and they've done just that for XBOX360 game Ninja Gaiden 2, and it doesn't look like good, that's for sure since it's currently standing at 585p (585 lines vertically).
It seem 1120 for horizontal but need confirmation, there are not good screenshot for horizontal check. for vertical 585 it's relatively sure and reliable
1120x585 would be another type of anamorphic resolution, opposed to the other classic anamorphic 1024x600 use in some X360 (COD4, PGR3, Oblivion, TR...)
but there are little more pixel in 1120x585 than in 1024x600 and 1120x585 is the better use of the EDRAM space that i have seen. it's 9.998MiB, just a 2KiB residue unused. maybe it explain this choice

    You can tell.

It's barely received an upgrade from the original ffs.

Yet the gameplay, that matters, is easily better? I'd take that anyday considering the game still looks better than most on the market anyway.

You realise the original was released in the 80's, right?

And that I was being sarcastic?

Anyway, why are we taking a FORUM POST as a valid source?

Most don't generally acknowledge the original from the 80s when talking about Ninja Gaiden, as most have either never played it or can't remember it.

Truth be told, that forum post didn't really provide anything other than superficial information.

For many people Graphics are everything... and they go to the lengths of screaming at the top of their voice when a game isn't True HD

The res means nothing, if they can get good graphics and a good framerate then thats what counts, i would rather a game run at 480p and have the best graphics ever at 60fps and all these effects running than have the same game at 720p with the graphics cut lots of effects cut and it only runs at 30fps and lags when the action heats up...

Everyone beat us in the head with everything-HD, yet there seems to be this trend of games being produced that aren't even up to standard. I would be upset if I bought a Hi Def DVD player with Hi Def movies, only to find out that they're really just upscaled DVDs. I completely understand the whole programming and optimization aspects, but why is this allowed to happen?
