But beating a month old game in two countries, is hardly a feat.
It was actually expected.
Still come back when they get to the amount of sales and money gained in the first week than we might have something.
Plus, with the Deutsch and Swedes their tales mainly consist of folklore and legend, myths about barbarians fighting hordes of vikings and ancient beasts, as opposed to William Wallace who was an actual person involved in historical battles and political stuff, things that the majority of youths today find quite boring. I mean, given the choice of a game about William Wallace and a game about a barbarian who fights legions of humans and monsters alike, it's obvious what the majority would choose. Now, suppose you grew up loving and being told stories about said barbarians than the want for a game on that subject would be even more. Furthermore the majority of British teens today have grew up on guns and stuff of that sort (in movies, games, TV shows etc.) so the more appealing option is the obvious one, where you get to shoot people in the head and blow sh*t up, whereas (as I've explained) Germany and Sweden grew up on barbarians and mythical creatures, so given the choice evidently they'll choose the latter. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that's the sole reason but it does still play a part in it.
But the Germans? What histoy of barbarians do they have?
Oh, and Braveheart is like 75% fiction.
Wallace was a landowner (above the peasants but nowhere near royalty) he wouldn't have been heavily involved in politics. He was a military man.
Yer kidding right? The Germanic barbarians were the biggest threat to Rome, which the eventually over ran.
AoC is a bad game though I haven't played it since the second day I played it.
And, no offence, but if you don't think the Deutsch have historical barbarian ties than this debate is moot, because you have no idea what you're talking about.
In interest of not turning this into an argument I'm ending my participation here. Feel free to say anything back, but don't expect a reply.
Battle of Stirling Bridge?
Battle of Bannockburn?
Wallace generally stayed away from the politics of it all, he left that to Robert the Bruce (who, coincidentally is buried in Dunfermline Abbey, about 10 minutes away from me).
I never learnt much of the fall of Romans, so I that excuses the fact I didn't know much about the german barbarians, but I still don't believe that would have the effect it has on the sales of age of Conan.
