Video games which will be considered rare in the future.

It has a fair list of games which in the future could be worth quite a lot of money and could be quite hard to find. Though the games will be considered a lot more valuable if they are sold in their cases and are unwrapped from its original packaging.
You see it all the time in eBay game listings. "RARE!!!" Of course, this being the internet, it's usually part of the full listing "GEARS OF WAR FOR XBOX 360 – RARE!!!" but occasionally, it's justified. Here we take a look at the different types of retro games and some of the crazy prices they're going for.

The popular desirables
These are the games that sold by the shedload in their day, so hardly count as 'rare' yet still seem to fetch a high price on eBay. Such as…

Final Fantasy VII - PC
Sure, everybody has got a copy of Final Fantasy VII for PSone or at least played it back in the day. While that version is still highly sought after (most likely by those who were too young to enjoy it at the time) with boxed copies going for £15-20 (about $35) on eBay, it's the PC version that's getting the biggest prices, as it's rarer. If you see it at a boot sale for a quid, pick it up for a possible 5600% profit.
Average eBay price: £57 ($114)

Title doesn't make sense...The games are there because they are already rare. Not because they will be...

As for the list, 110 pound for Valkyrie Profile . I means it's a great game but seriously that is just too excessive.

Valkyrie was just re-released on the PSP, so wtf?

It also has a dogshit ending to an otherwise more relative plot that followed (though VERY loosely) the events of Ragnarok in Norse mythology. In order to get something that resembled the original Ragnarok (where everything but humans died) is to purposely get the B ending.

And don't get me started on the pile of crap that was VP: Silmeria. I'd sooner throw Disgaea (which is a worthy classic) in the list before VP.

People want the original releases, not later releases on a portable platform.

Exactly. It's about the collectable factor. Not the actual game itself.

The only one of those I have is Super Mario 64. I still have the box for it, but it's not in great condition to say the least.

    Tombi/Tomba should've got a mention; that's pretty rare.

Hopefully you'll just be able to download them on a different console, like with the Virtual Console on the Wii.

^ Or a PC, through different means.

True, unique, original games will be hard to come by. Speaking of which, DS owners should look into The World Ends With You. Very unique and creative.

I have Super Mario 64, and just as well I have the box and everything that was inside of it. As to the original wrapping, haha, I couldn't resist taking it out to give me the joy of playing it for those countless hours.

Wonder how much my collection of 120 PS1 games are gonna be worth? I spent about $60 a few years back on R-Type Delta and the original Monster Rancher. I bet I could make a small fortune on what I have, especially the original 4 Twisted Metals (but who really cares about 3 and 4 anyway?). I think I'm gonna go and plays some PS1 games now. Thanks for getting nostalgia curling through my blood.
