Two major juggernauts have finally been released in the land of the rising sun: Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Devil May Cry 4. The clear victor? Brawl. Also, seven of the top ten are new releases.
As such, the top seller this week is
Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii, selling 820k copies. Second is the PS3 version of
Devil May Cry 4, selling 205k copies. Rounding out the top five are
Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut (PS2 - 117k),
Haruhi Suzumiya's Wonderment (PS2 - 114k) and
Wii Fit (WII - 73k)
With regards to hardware:

PSP: 72,528 - 77,933:

As expected, the two major releases this week, Super Smash Bros. Brawl (WII) and Devil May Cry 4 (PS3/360) led to increases in sales for their respective consoles. It's also interesting to note that Brawl sold more than #2-#10 combined, and reports say that it had a 95% sell-through. Devil May Cry 4 also didn't do that bad either, with to
PS3:360 5:1 report being accurate. Consider that these sales aren't even a full week, Brawl will continue to sport legs like Melee did, and DMC4 should stick around the top ten for one or two more weeks, selling a total 245,413, which is greater than DMC3's first week.
Other games purportedly "sent to die" against Brawl fared decently. Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut (PS2) managed a respectable 117k, and Haruhi Suzumiya's Wonderment (PS2) sold a similar amount, 114k. Disgaea 3 (PS3) has a decent 55k, while Assassin's Creed (PS3) starts out at 28k.

I see PSP outsold the nds.nice
and the top 10 of software.
Sony games = 6
nintendo = 3
xbox = 1
good numbers.
It's Japan, the most high rated (usually Nintendo) Japanese games/systems are gonna thrive, and there's not really an article that said otherwise until Halo 3 came along, but that one was shortlived.
