Honestly, there's no other way to put it. This tracking week is still well into the holiday season in Japan, and if it were somehow possible, DS Lite and Wii numbers increased. 41 out of the Top 50 are on a Nintendo system, with no 360 showing, and Sony representing the other nine. The PSP continues the have same problem that it had last week. But still, the Nintendo numbers, frankly, are completely and utterly absurd.

At the top of the rankings is our newest DS million-seller, Mario Party DS, selling 330k copies. It is followed by the newest remake from Square Enix, Final Fantasy IV DS, opening at 288k copies sold. Finishing out the top five are our favorite casual game, Wii Fit (WII - 214k), Super Mario Galaxy (WII - 114k) and Naruto Shippuuden: Narutimate Accel 2 (PS2 - 109k).

As for hardware, most of the major players besides Nintendo have dropped in sales, but not by much.

The best way to put it is simply this: Nintendo dominated Japan this past week. Sales for both the DS Lite and the Wii combined for over 500k, and DS and Wii software dominate the top fifty, accounting for 9 of the top 10, 25 out of the top 30, and 41 out of the top 50. Mario Party DS continues to sell like a monster and becomes the DS's next million seller, beating the other likely million-seller candidate, Dragon Quest IV, for the honor. Wii Fit is continuing to sell well, as well as having that trickle-down effect of getting other things to sell along with it. The main beneficiaries are yet again, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario and Sonic, and Wii Sports. Super Mario Galaxy is now poised to beat Super Mario Sunshine's LTD in a couple weeks, and is right now sporting great legs. As per the usual, Nintendo's DS games are sporting incredible legs.

It still is the case where the PSP is selling an excellent amount of units, but no software is going with the hardware out the door. There are currently two possibilities: people are buying PSPs for its other uses, and piracy. Frankly, I'm more inclined to believe the former, but there's no doubt that the latter exists and is easily accessible. Sony has a meager showing in the top 50, with 4 games on the PS2, 3 on the PS3, and 2 on the PSP, with probably the only games out of those 9 having meaningful sales being Narutimate Accel 2 and Power Pro 14. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is starting to drop, but that's probably also because of the fact that it's a demo, and also available on PSN. The other PS3 games in the top 50 are Time Crisis 4 (#34) and Winning Eleven 2008 (#45).

The 360 for the first week in a long while have no games in the top fifty, with Lost Odyssey dropping hard as a rock, and Ace Combat 6 finally being buried under all the Nintendo.

As for third parties, there's a decent showing in the top 10, with Square Enix garnering #2 (Final Fantasy IV DS) and #7 (Dragon Quest IV DS), Bandai Namco grabbing #5 (Narutimate Accel 2) and #8 (Doraemon Baseball), and Level 5 getting #10 (Professor Layton and Pandora's Box). The only two out of the nine Wii games in the top 50 are third-party: Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (#39) and the Wii version of Power Pro 14 (#49). Hopefully, that shapes up a bit more.
