Electronic Arts To Aquire Not One But Three Companies In One Go

Krunal | October 11, 2007 | Industry News | Company
Electronic Arts (EA) have today announced their aquisition of VG Holding Corp which itself, owns both BioWare Corp and Pandemic Studios.

The move is said to increase EA's ever strong position specially since the two companies have ten franchises under development, including six of which are wholly owned games. To add to that, BioWare is also the creator of the highly anticipated Mass Effect which is being published by Microsoft in November, and Pandemic Studios of Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.
EA will pay up to $620 million in cash to the stockholders of VG Holding Corp. and will issue up to an additional $155 million in equity to certain employees of VG Holding Corp., which will be subject to time-based or performance-based vesting criteria. EA will also assume outstanding VG Holding Corp. stock options. In addition, EA has agreed to lend VG Holding Corp. up to $35 million through the closing of the acquisition.

It doesnt matter, this is just EA's habit. They are in everything for the money. Just like they did to Command and Conquor. Which is now just a somewhat good but still mediocre series now Games like Mass Effect, Mercenaries, Star Wars KOTOR, Jade Empire, etc. now likely going to suffer the same fate.

Must... resist... urge... to... kill... someone... Why EA? Why? Do you have to gobble up all the decent game developers? Please just stick with overpriced sports games that are exactly the same....
