LEGO Batman Wii lacks online co-op multiplayer?

Amongst a number of new gameplay details relating to the upcoming Traveller's Tales-developed LEGO Batman: The Videogame, it seems as if the Nintendo Wii might yet again fall flat on the online front in comparison to its counterparts on PS3 and Xbox 360. Nintendo's latest console was not included when the inclusion online co-operative missions for the title were mentioned.

The Elusive Mirror's Edge at GDC '08: New Info and Screenshots!

"...you play as a “Runner” in a dystopian utopian world where a gleaming perfect city has been created at the expense of all civil liberties and free thought. The resistance movement can only communicate through hand-written and delivered messages, as all electronic communication is monitored. The game is all about speed and momentum, and standing still is a death sentence..."

GDC 2008: Sex in Videogames

Sei | February 23, 2008 | News | Game Developers Conference 2008
We are talking "real fun" here. IGN had the chance to talk with a female game developer... A female game developer that has developed a few games with sexual content on them like "Playboy: The Mansion". Her name is Brenda Brathwaite.
Even though Brenda has even written a book about "Sex In Videogames", she believes that movies and videogames should not have sex just for the sake of it, and that doing it just for the sake of bragging rights is irresponsible.

Wii Pay and Play - one of Nintendo's cleverest ever moves?

shuandrew | February 23, 2008 | News | Wii Game Developers Conference 2008
"This year’s Game Developer’s conference was a fairly quiet affair where Nintendo was concerned, but if there was one announcement that was going to ruffle the feathers of players, it was the confirmation that the firm would - after years of offering it for nothing - be charging players for the privilege of playing certain Wii titles online thanks to Wii Pay and Play.

Although many see this as Nintendo jumping late onto a bandwagon that they surely couldn’t afford to miss, could making the..."

Far Cry 2 GDC 08' Tech Demo

tekmosis | February 22, 2008 | Video | PC Game Developers Conference 2008
In what I can only describe as mind blowing. The next installment of the Far Cry series was demonstrated in a tech demo at GDC 08' unfortunately this was taken with a cam so the quality isn't superior, even through they provide both SD and HD.

I wont spoil it but at the end of part 2 your head will just explode. Enjoy!

Sony reveals PhyreEngine

"Quietly unveiled at yesterday's PSN session was PhyreEngine, a new "free to use graphics engine" from Sony Computer Entertainment. According to the presentation, the package includes full documentation, "70+ samples" and "full source code and artwork" of sample game templates. Working on both OpenGL and Direct3D, this engine will allow developers to more easily develop for the PS3 by using PC environments they're more familiar with. A "simple recompile" is supposedly all that's needed to make..."

GDC: Amazing Tech Video For PS Eye

"We've seen videos of Sony's Tank War Demo for the PS Eye before, and they looked really intriguing. But after having a hands-on today, I'm really excited over the simple tech demo.

As long as you position the various elements of the tank in proper relative positions (tank body middle, treads off to the side and a turret up top), the software smoothly integrates the design to a badass killing machine.

After shooting the video, I drew a tank of my own and was incredibly impressed by the..."

GDC 08: Echochrome Hands One + Video

"
Echochrome requires a good hard look to wrap your head around the concept the first time you witness it: Created entirely out of black lines against an ultra-minimalist, stark white background, a figure reminiscent of a mannequin artist's model navigates interconnecting, M.C. Escher-like pathways as you rotate the camera. That last part is the key, too: The pathways don't interconnect unless viewed from the right angle. If you've ever seen one of those "how many prongs does this fork have?..."

After creating the game and writing a description for it, the game is submitted for Peer Review, to make sure no copyrights have been violated and to make sure it is appropriate for release. tekmosis | February 20, 2008 | Other | PC Game Developers Conference 2008
During GDC 08' IGA Worldwide and id Software (Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein) partner up to bring us QUAKE LIVE. Now, what exactly is Quake Live? Well, it's not a new installment in the Quake series. It's the Quake you know and love, what console? PC? well, yes but you play it in your browser.

IGA is an in-game advertising firm, so, you can most likely expect to see advertisements in Quake Live while you frag it up through your browser. It's to be noted that there is already a browser based ver...

[RUMOR] In-game XMB ready to release, Home almost complete, Accomplishments coming

Wow, what a rumor.

Take this as RUMOR though. Because it's a rumor, there's quite a chance it's not gonna happen.

The rumor says though, that a new Playstation dev kit update has released which is almost completely about integrating home and an XMB. The rumor goes on to state that the in-game XMB is ready to launch, and Playstation Home is almost completely done. The source also mentions that the PS3 is also almost ready to launch an "Accomplishment" system, similar to the achievement ...

Sony just loves to mess with people these days.

They had shirts at GDC '08 that said "In-shirt XMB" on them. Hmm, I wonder what that could hint at... OH WAIT? An In-game XMB maybe?
