Analysts say: Wii Might not be just a fad
"DFC Intelligence has a theory. David Cole, analyst at the firm, says that the Wii "does not appear to be a fad and it has the chance to be one of the best selling systems of all-time" according to new report. You hear that, naysayers and Wii jokesters? Not a fad! While DFC places Nintendo's waggle-box at the top of the heap this generation, it also has good, long-term news for Sony, writing that PlayStation 3 annual software sales will match that of the Wii by 2012.

Indie game designers on the rise
"In the second grade, James Silva didn't just play "Mario" and "Zelda" on his Nintendo but drew pictures of new levels and cooked up ideas for future games.
While other kids dreamed of becoming an astronaut or president, he felt destined to be a video game designer.
Conquering space or politics might have been easier.
Besides a good idea, game developers have needed a distribution deal to get their work on consoles like the Xbox or PlayStation.
And over the years, the industry has ..."

Homebrew Wiibrator marks Nintendo's slow descent into hell
"Team DWiildo suggests using the Wii remote jacket, for safety's sake, and instruct gamers to "Not try to use this with either the Wii Zapper or Wii Wheel peripherals."
There are four different "playing levels," in what is described as a "highly advanced technology demo." The team clearly have ideas for where the project is now going, mooting adding the ability to add a "stimulating" slideshow of images, USB webcam support and online chat functionality, as well as local multiplayer options ..."

Despite Wii Update - Homebrew Lives On
"Earlier this week, Nintendo released firmware version 3.3 for the Wii in the hopes of deterring some of the homebrew work being done for the console. The update nixed the commonly-used "Twilight Hack," which made use of a modified save file to launch homebrew applications. It didn't take long for the community to respond, though, as a fix has been released which counters Nintendo's efforts."

New Wii Menu Update kills Homebrew
"he latest update, which rolls the Wii Menu to 3.3, not only kills the Twilight Hack, but also allows you to move a Mii from the Mii Plaza into the Mii Parade directly, thanks to the addition of a handy new icon. You just drag and drop as you normally would.
But, let's get back to the real news here. Nintendo has finally gone ahead and sunk the U.S.S. Homebrew. We're anxious to see how the community is going to take this one."

Nintendo of Europe Talks Wii Storage Solution
"Nintendo Europe’s Laurent Fischer has sparked new debate about the issue of the much-needed extra storage for Nintendo Wii users struggling with the console’s tiny internal memory and juggling SD cards too, but he stated that there is nothing as drastic as an external hard drive planned.

Nintendo Testing USB Devices for Wii
"The Nintendo Wii has USB connectors hidden in the back of its tiny white frame, but so far they've gone unused. That all may be changing soon, as a report came out today that Nintendo of America is going to be testing USB devices.

Q&A with Phil Merricks about the WiiWare game Pirates: The Key of Dreams
"WW: Can you tell us a little more about the actual story line of the game?

Nintendo Sues Maker of Wireless Nunchuck
"At a glance, Nyko's wireless Kama Nunchuck (pictured) appears plenty different from Nintendo's first-party Nunchuck controller, simply because Nyko's offering is wireless, and Nintendo's isn't.

Nintendo: only geeks and otaku suffer storage problems
"As is always the case with Nintendo’s press events nowadays, the dirty word ‘casual’ was raised at its WiiWare preview, only to be dismissed in favor of a distinction between gamers and non-gamers. Playing these semantic games is fine, but when a pertinent question about the limited Wii system memory was raised, Laurent Fischer, managing director of marketing at NOE, easily slipped into talking about how “geeks and otaku” were the only people who would want this issue addressed. Nintendo Hosting a 'Ladies-Only' Wii Sports Boxing Competition
"Who'd have thought that drinking and the Wii would go so well together? Nintendo is hosting a Wii Sports Boxing contest in New York City at a bar called Sutton Place at 1015 2nd Ave., on Thursday, June 12, at 7 pm.
Don't expect to see two muscular brutes slug it out with Wii controllers though--this contest is reserved for women only. Participants will have a chance to win a Wii by boxing friends, colleagues, or anyone else who wants to be the next million-dollar baby."

The Wii Balance Board's future: are we in for a colossal disappointment?
"If the reception to Wii Fit and the interest from many a third party developer were anything to go by, then the future of the Wii Balance Board looks like being a secure one, but should we really be getting overly giddy about what has been touted in many circles as a revolution in game control, or is the Balance Board limited to offering only a little more than is possible at any old videogaming arcade, a limited, gimmicky piece of kit?"

Friend Codes: The Bane Of Your Existence Or A Necessity?
Wii Gamers will most likely have at one point during their time gaming, come across the 12-digit Friend Codes. Needed to add friends to the game, unlike the PS3 and XBOX360 counter parts, the numbers are not chosen by you, which makes remembering them somewhat of a chore, however is that how you see Friend Codes or do you see them as something that's necessary in this day and age of gaming?

Wii Gamers = Hardcore Gamers
""The real break-through, the real magic of the Wii console is that it brought new consumers into the game," she said. Do we want to be inclusive or do we want to be expansive? At Nintendo we definitely believe in the power of the expanded audience."

How Long Will The Wii's Internal Memory Last?
"Since the release of the Wii many tech-savvy fans have pointed out that the two USB ports present on the console could open up a whole world of opportunities; one recent firmware update granted the ability to use USB keyboards on the machine, for example. EA Sales Report: PS3 to have a better year then Xbox 360
"That will, according to the estimates, be particularly true in Europe, where EA expects the PlayStation 3 to sell between 5 and 6 million units across the year, compared to just 1.5-2.5 million for the Xbox 360.
That means that while the company thinks the two will tie in North America on 4.5 to 5.5 million unit sales, the two sets of numbers combined give Sony's flagship console a compelling 3.5 million lead.
