Australian Game Sales: July 21st - 27th
"With just over a week to go until the official opening of the Beijing Olympic Games, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games on the Nintendo DS is already waving the flag, claiming the top spot in the Aussie sales charts according to data trackers GfK. A spokesperson for GfK Australia confirmed to GameSpot AU that the spike can be attributed to last week's Target offer, which bundled the game with Nintendo DS consoles.

Sonic & Mario at the Olympic Games beats UK top charts ... again!
"Their unholy alliance seems to be paying off as everyone’s favourite Plumber and Hedgehog have topped the UK’s all format charts again this week. This game is proving to be a beast that will not be slain, consistently rising and falling in the charts just to climb to the top spot again. Not only is the game number one overall but first on the Wii and second on the DS charts, cementing the fact that I am the only one who finds the premise of a stunted overweight Italian posing anything that ev..."

Mario & Sonic lets you use Miis
"See that? Just your bog-standard, everyday Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games screengrab, right? Right. But wait a second there, bucko. Look closer, and what you’ll see is an out-and-out minefield of fresh, juicy information on the game that Sega reckons will sell, oooh, around a gazillion copies.
Indeed, through this solitary screen, taken by the furtive types at N-Europe, we can extract three new facts about Mario and Sonic’s RSI-inducing Olympics title."

Sega Game Lineup for Tokyo Game Show ?
"Shenmue. Either you loved it for it’s engrossing story and memorable characters, or you hated it for it’s often tedious and boring gameplay. It goes without saying that the Shenmue series has garnered one of the most loyal underground followings of any game franchise since Bad Dudes (I’m a bad enough dude to rescue the President. Are you?). Regardless, ever since it was announced all those moons ago that Shenmue III would NOT be coming to the Xbox, fans of the series have been clammering for ..."

BioWare chats some more about Sonic RPG
"Last month’s news that SEGA and Baldur's Gate/Neverwinter Nights/Jade Empire developer BioWare were joining forces to create a Sonic the Hedgehog RPG for the Nintendo DS came straight out of Bizarro World. Now, BioWare chief Ray Muzyka has shed a little more light on a project that has taken everybody by surprise.
As well as promising that some of the world’s best writing and designing talent was working on Sonic, Muzyka also discussed how the studio intends to translate what is traditiona..."

Miyamoto on 1:1 Sword Fighting games
""We haven't announced anything, so I can't speak about any particulars, but we do have a lot of ideas about how we could potentially use the Wii remote for something like that," Miyamoto told us.
He also pointed to Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games as a project that may potentially include such a feature. "There will be some fencing in Mario & Sonic at the Olympics. I don't know if I'm supposed to say that, so if I'm not, I'm very sorry, SEGA," he said, laughing."
