"Rather than burning the bits to a retail disc, however, Koei will be releasing Fatal Inertia EX exclusively over the PlayStation Network come the end of May.

Fatal Inertia EX will feature an additional, exclusive environment not seen in the original 360 release, dubbed Proving Grounds. This environment will be home to the game's eight new tracks.

"KOEI has told Eurogamer that futuristic racer Fatal Inertia will be a better game on PS3.

The company is spending more time on it after the 360 version failed to ignite critical fuses when it was released in September. According to a spokesperson for the publisher, they're polishing up technical areas and putting together a more enticing demo than Live customers were treated to.

New content is a possibility, too, although nothing concrete is known at this point.

"Koei today announced that a demo for Fatal Inertia is now available from the Xbox Live Marketplace for the Xbox 360 owners. The demo offers single player and split-screen two-player Combat races, as well as high-speed Velocity races from the game's Exhibition and Elite racing leagues. The game ships on September 11th with over 1.3 million race craft customization combinations plus 15,000 performance combinations and 51 courses across 6 distinct racing environments."

"The PS3 version of Fatal Intertia has been delayed due to "difficulties" with the Unreal Engine's performance on the Sony hardware. The game was originally designed specifically for the system, yet is deemed to be "not running well enough" according to a Koei representative. The Xbox 360 version is to be released ahead of it, as delaying it further while the PS3 version is fixed wasn't deemed necessary.
