The Worst Celebrity Game Renders Of All Time!

Gothic Girl | May 16, 2008 | Blog | Misc
Rarely do games get celebrity renders right.
There are some amazingly accurate renders, such as Jean Reno from Onimusha 3 or Gackt from FFVII: Crisis Core.

... but most of them aren't quite so good ...

GamesRadar has compiled a list of the worst celebrity renders ever to appear in a game. From Charlie's Angels to Wayne's World, there's an awful celebrity render from almost any movie-to-game adaptation you can think of.

(go to the source for full list)
Celebrities get caught in a lot of ugly situations. Half naked on the beach. Wasted at an all-night rave. Dazed and confused during a police mug shot. Puffy and discolored after a botched plastic surgery.

Nothing, however, compares to the horror and humiliation of appearing in a videogame. Beauty is destroyed in a vomit of sprites and mutated textures. Talent is lost in the wasteland of two dimensions or the soulless, robotic modeling of three. Everything fans love and recognize is warped, stretched, melted, bloated... and then paraded on the screen for dozens of hours at a time.

Luckily, what's rarely flattering for the stars is always hilarious for us. We've gathered the absolute worst examples of celebrity likenesses in gaming.

To be honest half of those don't look that bad. Maybe the Jessica Alba one, but not the others.

Ummm, some are pretty bad though >_>

The main problem with some of them, is not that the render is so bad looking, just that it doesn't resemble the person it is SUPPOSED to be >_>

I've seen some of this stuff myself. Sometimes, I just pretend that the artists just 'made the characters look they thought they should', instead of just inaccurately depicting a real life person's looks....

Some of the more dated stuff really twists the looks of the character....Seriously, looks like plastic surgery as performed by a 10 year old who did it whilst having a seizure or something >_>

I was just reading this myself and can't agree anymore! I mean some of them really don't look to close to their real life selves but they can't be helped. Hopefully in the future with grpahics increasing it will increase this.

Tbh, I think the old NES and SNES ones were pretty accurate, considering they only had 2D sprites to work with.

Agreed, why fault the technical restrictions at the time?

BTW, Infogrames did not have the license to use Will Smith (or Tommy Lee Jones) in the MIB game.
