Jack Thompson has unfortunately been hitting the scene in recent times. Maybe he should get a lesson in history (like the article says), from the "History Channel" who proved that too much of a good thing, isn't necessarily a good thing. They showed documentaries about the Hitler and were thus called "The Hitler Channel", and in the same way Jack Thompson, keeps trying to stop games in the name of "good".
In the name of doing the 'so called' good, he has managed to find himself in trouble that is completely unrelated from gaming, such as putting in "Gay Porn" as evidence without any justification, and when asked to give reasons as to why he shouldn't be referred to the court's Ad Hoc Committee... he did just that, except none of his fourteen responses actually addressed the question.
Now the question that we must ask is, do we really need to give that much attention to Jack. We all know that any game that he represents will no doubt become an instant seller, if it isn't already, due to him giving publicity for it, but are the people that hate him, the ones that are making his ego what it is? If left ignored, could he possibly slip away from notice, and not cause the uproars that he has in recent times, or would he create huge problems in the background that by the time they're noticed we'd have the worst case scenario on our hands - Jack manages to convinvnce another court to review a game to see whether or not it should be released (I honestly doubt he can get any game banned for any reason).
So ultimately, the answer to the Thompson conundrum lies not with the news sites, but with the news readers. Jack is hits, and hits is good; it's what keeps this whole thing rolling, so I'm told. If you think it gets tiresome reading about the man, try writing about him some time. In fact, try writing about him all the time. I think most of us would be quite happy to move on to other things, if you'd just let us. Which makes it all quite simple: Want us to stop talking about Jack? Stop reading about him.
In other news, Jack Thompson will be attending this year's VideoGame Expo in Philadelphia. Details to follow.
