Despite the heavily positive coverage of the Playstation 3 as of late, humorist Ryan Rigney gives a number of reasons that the console still isn't an enticing buy for him and the majority of consumers. The article also discusses how the Wii has become a completely viable gaming platform.
Blu-Ray doesn't really matter.
I watched Iron Man in a pretty *bleep*edly low resolution. I watched Indiana Jones: KotCS in *bleep*edly high resolution. Iron Man was still 10 times better than the newest Indy outing, regardless. I'm not saying that video resolution doesn't matter at ALL, but it makes a pretty small percentage of difference to the amount of enjoyment that I have watching a film or playing a game. The first time I played a 360 (the game being Gears of War), I'll admit that I thought "it just doesn't get any better than this!" Well over a year later, however, I'm less of a moron and it's painfully obvious to me that I had way more fun playing through Portal (at the lowest possible settings) and Super Mario Galaxy than I ever had sludging through Gears of War's overly gritty campaign. Gears of War is an amazing game; Don't get me wrong. It's just that the eye candy didn't affect my enjoyment of the product at all in the end. So why would I go out of my way to get a Blu-Ray player? Sure, IF I had a Blu-Ray player, I'd only buy movies in that format from that point forward, but I don't think it would make the movies I watched any more entertaining just because they were in a higher resolution. So in my situation, I have no real reason to shell out the cash for such a feature, thus making this part of the PS3 as of little interest to me as the antelope-looking thing that I ran over on the way home yesterday: it was mildly distracting, but stopping and getting it would've caused me no joy.

Kinda thinking that'll change at midnight tonight.
Honestly I'm not jazzed about spending all those hundreds on the system and then some for games; in the end the games cost more than a hundred each. I pretty much HAVE to buy Blu Ray movies to make it worth it.
Nothing else will let me play Disgaea 3 though...
Oh and now I see why chaut thumbed Jaw down.
LOL!
I agree with him and that's why I'm holding off on a PS3 for now. I don't really care about watching movies in better quality, and I am just waiting for more games I care about to come out. It's not that big of a deal really.
Just cause it's his opinion doesn't mean we should pet his head and say "He'll learn soon...", an opinion based on no knowledge is being ignorant, plain and simple. You would've been better off going "WHY I LIKE NINTENDO'S SYSTEMS", you would've actually held some water in the article without coming off as some blabbering fanboy. Seriously, you DID talk more about Nintendo than the PS3.
Oh and anger? I got a PS3 AND a 360 sitting in this very room right now. No, it's not fanboyism, it infuriates the ever-loving *bleep* outta me when somebody decides to talk about the opposite system without knowing anything about it. If you have knowledge of the PS3, you apparently did not show ANY in there...in fact you just showed more favoritism towards Nintendo's systems and games and that's pretty much it.
Your article could have been alot better off stating why you love Nintendo, instead of going on about PS3 and Blu-ray with little to no evidence of your "research".
All the article says to people who buys consoles and games is another fanboy who rants about a system he knows nothing about. Seeker X has made every point why your article does nothing but show a Ninty fanboy.
All I know is Im enjoying my PS3 with the games I have and Soon to be MGS4.
Makes no sense crying about it, and hoping that someone agrees with your disagreements...

...though MGS4 will be changing my mind on that.
Tbh, I don't see why everyone is going off at the guy just because he doesn't want a PS3. This isn't a great way to introduce new people and their sites to Gamegrep.
